Each year hundreds of students audition to join the Repertory family,
below is information on how to successfulLy audition for our school!
OUR AUDITION PROCESS
At Repertory our students DO IT ALL. There are no arts majors for students RCHS, our belief is that students benefit from a holistic theatre arts education where we expose and immerse our students in all theatrical disciplines. Our students learn each of the artistic disciplines and begin to connect the threads and see the intersections between them.
Students auditioning for Repertory should be prepared to sing, dance and act, as they will be doing each throughout their journey at Rep. Below are the audition requirements.
Students are required to audition in all three areas:
1. Acting – Students should be prepared to perform a one minute monologue from a published play.
Students are to avoid material that is self-written or monologues solely written for monologue books.
2. Dance – Students should be prepared to demonstrate a musical theatre dance combination taught by the dance faculty and current students. Be sure to bring clothes appropriate for dance.
3. Vocal – Students should be prepared to sing 16-32 bars of a song, preferably from a musical, bring sheet music with you.
Sheet music can be purchased online, or borrowed from the Library for Performing Arts at Lincoln Center for free.
4. Interview - Students will take part in a brief interview conducted by our seniors.
Please be prepare to answer questions honestly and thoughtfully so we can get to know you better.
Repertory Company High School for Theatre Arts is looking for serious students searching for a small nurturing environment in the theatre district. We are striving to admit students who have the motivation and stamina to succeed in our training program while completing the academic requirements for college. Your evaluation will be based on enthusiasm, the desire to perform, the capacity to promote yourself and the ability to use your voice and body as a means of artistic expression. If you are looking to contribute as well as benefit from our training program, this is the place for you.
On the day of the audition, parents can accompany their child into the building and can either wait in the cafeteria (PTA representatives and currently Repertory students will be present to speak with) or can leave and come back at the conclusion of the audition process. The auditions will take approximately two hours, so parents should plan accordingly.
